Spring officially started on March 20th, but to many, including me, it starts on April 1st. While it might still be chilly outside, I can already feel the spirit of a new beginning. Spring, to me, is a second New Year. I get to reset, see all that I’ve accomplished from the past three months, and make changes. It’s also that time of year for the big spring cleaning, opening the windows, and letting go of the winter coziness. But besides cleaning, there are plenty of other ways to infuse your space with the spirit of spring, beyond just flowers.

I know what I said earlier, and I can already hear that Miranda Priestly quote in my head: “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” But hear me out, it’s a cliché because it works! Flowers instantly brighten a room, add a touch of nature, and elevate any space. Right now, I’m obsessed with the Meadow Wildflower look, soft pastels, untamed arrangements, and a mix of delicate blooms that feel effortlessly charming. Ditch the predictable bouquet and go for something a little more whimsical.

Flowers

Go Green

If fresh flowers aren’t your thing, bring in some greenery instead! Potted plants, hanging vines, or even a small herb garden on your window can instantly liven up a space. Low-maintenance plants like pothos, snake plants, or peace lilies add freshness without requiring too much effort. Plus, they help purify the air, a win-win!

Bring out the porcelains, floral plates, and interesting cutlery! I love mismatched kitchenware, there’s something so personal and delightful about it. Whether it’s a vintage teacup I picked up at a thrift store or a handmade ceramic bowl from my travels, unique dishware can make everyday moments feel special. Swap out your mugs for something bright and cheerful, or serve your morning toast on a beautifully patterned plate. Little details make all the difference.

Quirky Kitchenware

Sweet it Up!

‘Tis the season to bake! There’s something about spring that makes me want to fill my kitchen with the scent of something sweet. A cake, a fruit pie, cupcakes, whatever speaks to you. And don’t just bake them, display them! A beautifully arranged dessert on a cake stand acts as both decor and a delicious treat. Plus, having something homemade on hand makes a visit from friends (or just a little self-indulgence) all the more delightful.

Make your bed

If you make your bed every morning (I hope you do!), have fun with your duvet cover, bed sheets, and pillows. You don’t have to go full floral if that’s not your vibe, choose solid colors that bring you joy, or opt for an interesting pattern that feels fresh and new. Soft yellows, sage greens, crisp whites, or even playful gingham prints can give your bedroom that airy springtime feel.

Don’t Forget the Curtains

One of the things that pains me about NYC is looking at windows with no curtains. There’s something so peaceful about waking up in the morning and opening up your curtains. I don’t care if your view is a wall, add the curtains! Floral or not, flowy curtains bring a softness and airiness that instantly changes the mood of a room. Sheer, light fabrics allow natural light to filter in while still offering a touch of privacy. Go for soft whites, pastels, or even a delicate lace pattern to add that effortless springtime feel.

Declutter Please

Spring is the perfect time to declutter and reorganize. Take a moment to go through your closet, bookshelves, and pantry. Donate what you don’t need, refresh your space with intentional organization, and make room for new things to come. Even something as simple as rearranging your furniture or swapping out wintery decor for lighter, breezier pieces can make a big impact.

Spring is all about embracing lightness, freshness, and renewal. Whether it’s through colors, scents, textures, or little decorative touches, there are so many ways to bring the season into your home. So open those windows, let the fresh air in, and celebrate the season of new beginnings!
